Earth Day, which falls on April 22 every year, is a festival specially set up for world environmental protection, aiming to raise public awareness of existing environmental issues.

1. The 54th “Earth Day” in the world chocolate box
On April 22, 2023, the 54th “Earth Day” around the world will be themed “Earth for All”, aiming to raise public awareness, promote environmental sustainability, and protect biodiversity.
According to the Sixth Assessment Report of the Global Environment Outlook (GEO) issued by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), more than 1 million species are endangered worldwide, and the rate of loss of biodiversity is 1,000 times that of the past 100,000 years above.
It is imminent to protect biodiversity!
2. What is biodiversity?paper gift box
Adorable dolphins, naive giant pandas, an orchid in the valley, graceful and rare two-horned hornbills in the rainforest… Biodiversity makes this blue planet very lively.
During the 30 years between 1970 and 2000, the term “biodiversity” was coined and spread as the abundance of species on Earth declined by 40%. There are many definitions of “biological diversity” in the scientific community, and the most authoritative definition comes from the Convention on Biological Diversity.
Although the concept is relatively new, biodiversity itself has been around for a long time. It is the product of a long evolutionary process of all living things on the entire planet, with the earliest known living organisms dating back nearly 3.5 billion years.
3. “Convention on Biological Diversity”
On May 22, 1992, the agreement text of the Convention on Biological Diversity was adopted in Nairobi, Kenya. On June 5 of the same year, many world leaders participated in the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The three major conventions on environmental protection – the Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Convention on Biological Diversity, and the Convention to Combat Desertification. Among them, the “Convention on Biological Diversity” is an international convention for the protection of the earth’s biological resources, aiming at the protection of biological diversity, the sustainable use of biological diversity and its components, and the fair and reasonable sharing of benefits arising from the use of genetic resources .
As one of the countries with the richest biodiversity in the world, my country is also one of the first parties to sign and ratify the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity.
On October 12, 2021, at the leaders’ summit of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15), President Xi Jinping pointed out that “Biodiversity makes the earth full of vitality and is also the basis for human survival and development. Conservation of biodiversity helps maintain the home of the earth and promotes sustainable human development.”
APP China is in action
1. Protect the sustainable development of biodiversity candle and jar box
There are many species of forests, and their ecosystems play an important role in the global ecosystem. APP China has always attached great importance to the protection of biodiversity, strictly abided by the “Forest Law”, “Environmental Protection Law”, “Wild Animal Protection Law” and other national laws and regulations, and formulated “Wild animals and plants (including RTE species, that is, Rare Threaten Endangered species: Collectively referred to as rare, threatened and endangered species) Protection Regulations, “Biodiversity Conservation and Monitoring Management Measures” and other policy documents.
In 2021, APP China Forestry will incorporate the protection of biodiversity and the maintenance of ecosystem stability into the annual environmental target indicator system, and conduct performance tracking on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis; and cooperate with Guangxi Academy of Sciences, Hainan University, Guangdong Ecological Engineering Vocational College, etc. Colleges and scientific research institutions have cooperated to carry out projects such as ecological monitoring and plant diversity monitoring.

Main Measures for Forestry Biodiversity Protection
1. Woodland selection stage
Only receive commercial forest land stipulated by the government.
2. Afforestation planning stage
Persist in carrying out biodiversity monitoring, and at the same time ask the local forestry bureau, forestry station, and village committee whether you have seen protected wild animals and plants in the woodland. If so, it shall be clearly marked on the planning map.
3. Before starting work
Provide contractors and workers with training on the protection of wild animals and plants and fire safety in production.
It is forbidden for contractors and workers to use fire for production in forest land, such as burning wasteland and refining mountains.
4. During forestry activities
Contractors and workers are strictly prohibited from hunting, buying and selling wild animals, randomly picking and digging wild protected plants, and destroying the habitats of surrounding wild animals and plants.
5. During daily patrol
Strengthen publicity on animal and plant protection.
If protected animals and plants and HCV high conservation value forests are found, corresponding protection measures shall be implemented in a timely manner.
6. Ecological monitoring
Cooperate with third-party organizations for a long time, insist on carrying out ecological monitoring of artificial forests, strengthen protection measures or adjust forest management measures.
The earth is the common home of mankind. Let’s welcome the 2023 Earth Day and protect this “earth for all living beings” together with APP.
